That is why it is in a knife stand, along with all of Kolly's knife friends. Why was Kolly friends with the other knives? They weren't sentient, they offered no source of entertainment.
Kolly felt sentimental attachment to the other knives. Maybe it was because Kolly was also a knife, like the other knives, but Kolly wasn't the same as the other knives, it was a sentient knife. Kolly starts staring off into space.
Wait, what is space? Kolly doesn't know. Holy crap, Kolly thought, it had only been alive for ten seconds. Kolly doesn't know what space is. Kolly doesn't even know what love is. That's the most depressing part.
