The Days Grown Old

Abruptly, the mother to the litter stood up in place, her maw curling back into a vicious snarl. You felt cold as soon as her fur left your form. Quickly, you stand beside your mother, remaining silent as the figure slowly turned itself to face the family more clearly. You felt as your weak body suddenly fell forward as mother took a lunge forward and thusly outside the den. Ears pinning back, you could faintly see the scuffle while the weather became denser. It was like the mist itself began to slowly silence the noises outside the den. The next thing you were certain of was that the noises stopped and you no longer saw mother or the creature.
