Erinyes Game
“I still trust you,” you repeat. “Will you work with me, Aphrodite?”
She hesitates just a moment longer before finding her resolve.
“Fine. I’ll give you a head start, so go down the hall and to the left. There’s a large storage room to that you’ll find if you go down far enough. I’ll meet you in there.”
“Sounds good.”
You leave the kitchen, relieved to have an ally on your side. Running down the hall, you think you can hear voices inside the entertainment room, so you pause just outside to listen in.
“So what do you think we should do?” Apollo’s voice.
“I think Hestia usually spends lots of time in here, so I don’t think she’ll come here.” Hera’s reply. “She may either stay upstairs or maybe she’ll hide in the rooms she doesn’t normally go to.”
“I guess you’re right. I feel a little bad about this, though.”
You imagine Hera’s shrug. “So do I. I don’t have anything against her, but we can’t pass up this opportunity to win this game.”
“Yeah…well if you see Hestia try to be nice at first, and then we can try to corner her somewhere.”
“Good idea.”
You back away from the door, trying not to panic. It really does sound like you’re the only Olympian left, and the others are all out to get you. Forcing yourself to take a deep breath to slow your racing heartbeat, you continue on down the hall. You turn a corner just in time to avoid being seen by Hera and Apollo as they leave the entertainment room, and you peek around to see that they’re both heading back the way you came. Good, now you have time to find that storage room Aphrodite mentioned.
You move down the hallway, opening doors at random, searching for the storage room. Finding a few smaller closets and empty rooms but not something that suits the description, you continue on until you hear footsteps. And they're getting louder.
Choosing a room, you quickly duck into it and shut the door as quietly as you can manage.
"Hestia?" It's Apollo. "Where are you? I just want to talk."
Pressing your body flush against the door, you try not to breathe too loudly, to give your position away. What was he even saying, at a time like this?
"I know this situation is crazy," he says, "but I don't really want to hurt you. Please come out and talk to me."
From the sound of his voice, it seems like he's approaching the room where you are.
