Erinyes Game

The Moirae phase comes faster than you thought, and soon enough you’re all gathered around the table in the judgement room. The third seat, Poseidon’s, and the thirteenth, Dionysus’s, are left empty. There is no sign of Poseidon’s body or blood anywhere, and you try not to think of how it got cleaned up.

“Welcome to your first Moirae phase!” Hades’s voice booms. “Now it is time to pass judgement on your fellow Olympians. Who do you think is guilty? I’ll give you time to discuss.”

When Hades’s voice fades, the room is left eerily silent. No one dares speak.

“…So? Have you come to a conclusion, everyone?” Says Zeus quietly.

Hera takes a deep breath. “Ares. Following yesterday’s events, I believe you to be most suspicious.”

He slams a fist on the table, making us all jump. “Excuse me? You’re accusing me of murder?”

“You’ve b-been so violent and…and unfriendly,” mumbles Demeter, words stumbling over each other. “You’ve threatened both Hermes and Dionysus, a-and now look who’s been killed. Who’s to say you won’t target Hermes next? Or any of us?”

“You…” Ares gets out of his seat, stalking around the table towards Demeter.

“Whoa, stop right there.” Artemis and Apollo quickly stand up, blocking his way. “We won’t let you hurt her.”

“I…I’m not a Fury!” Ares yells desperately. “You’ve got to believe me.” He looks around the room. No one meets his eye, and neither do you. You stare down at the table in front of you as if it’s the most interesting thing you’ve ever laid eyes on.

“Be seated, everyone.” Hades speaks again. “It is time for judgement. Please raise one hand and point at the person you believe to be guilty. If you don’t vote within ten seconds, you will also be punished, so make sure you choose. And…begin.”
