A shadowy figure

Without a glance back, you throw yourself into the driver's seat of the car and slam your foot down on the gas pedal. Before you get a chance to look up again, you feel a dull thud as the car slams into gear. It feels like you hit something, but you can't risk getting attacked by whatever was following you. In the direction of your house, you speed off. You were only a small way from your house, and soon you arrive. As you near your house, you start hearing sirens. As you pull up, police greet you. "Sir, there has been a murder here. Are you a resident?", he states. You reply that you are, and asks if you would like to view the body of the victim.
