Erinyes Game
Taking a deep breath, you point at Aphrodite along with Hephaestus, while she points at Hephaestus.
“I’m so sorry, Aphrodite,” you whisper, trying not to cry, “but I believe Hephaestus.”
Aphrodite gives you one last, sad smile. “I understand. Congratulations on winning this game. Live well, you two.”
Aphrodite’s choker glows pink and white. Flower petals start to fall from it, and while you don’t recognize the flowers, you can faintly smell some terrible scent emanating from them. As Hephaestus gets out of his chair and backs away, the choker emits a tiny syringe, which stabs into Aphrodite’s neck, injecting something into her. She chokes, unable to breathe, as the flower petals continue to fall. Her face turns an awful shade of purple and she collapses, unmoving.
You and Hephaestus stare at each other for a moment before he comes to help you out of your seat. Without his support, your knees would have buckled under the weight of that final realization.
“I can't believe this,” you whisper.
“Neither can I.” Hephaestus starts to escort you out of the room. “But it’s finally all over.”
“Indeed it is!” Says Hades. “Congrats, my final two. In honor of your success, you will be released from this facility. Now go get some rest, you two.”
Thrilled, you beam at Hephaestus as you head upstairs. “Did you hear that? We’re getting out of here!”
“I do wish we could’ve taken more people with us,” he says regretfully.
You nod. “We’ll always remember them. No matter what.”
Agreeing, he says, “Good night, Hestia.”
That night, your dreams are pink and white. You’re standing in a lovely flower field, inhaling the scent of the flowers, but suddenly the scent becomes deadly. You choke on air as the flower petals turn red, dripping blood.
