The Printing Machine

You decide to exit the room with your work buddy Jim. He gives the door a mighty kick open and stealthily hops out of the room. He makes a sharp right and keeps his legs moving down the hallway as he leads you to the exit stairs. Your heart is beating like a drum as you start to thump your feet down the stairs. You start to question as your in exhaustion of how many more steps until the ground floor of the ginormous 50 story building. You feel like you are about to pass out when you hear a faint noise coming from up above. You come to a halt as Jim continues at a faster speed. He starts to leave you behind as he is almost two full stories below you. You decide to holler down to tell Jim to stop immediately and listen to the freakish thing that has been making a peculiar sound coming from several stories up. Jim ignores you as he continues to reach the bottom and return back to normal life. At the same time you notice that the long lasting sound has become closer than before. You are very curious of what that random cringy scratchy sound could be.
