Cellular Respiration

Once in the inner membrane space, you want to move according to your concentration gradient back into mitochondrial matrix. In doing so, you move through the ATP Synthase integral protein. The ATP Synthase uses the energy from your movement to combine ADP with a phosphate to create ATP (chemiosmosis). ATP is then used to create energy by oxidative phosphorylation. Once back inside the mitochondrial matrix, you combine with oxygen to produce an H2O (water) product.
