In The Day

You're never able to hold yourself back from ordering the meal that you love. I mean, how can anyone resist the taste of tater tots and pork and cheese and Fozzie's sauce all in one?

The waitress walks away to place the order. You grab your phone out of your coat pocket and scroll on a few social media apps, but you can't ignore the feeling that someone is staring at you. You glance up to see your friend looking at you.

"What?" you ask, locking your phone and placing it on the table.

"You ordered meat?"

"Yes," you reply, "Why wouldn't I?"

"Meat is bad for the environment."

"How so?" you raise your eyebrows in confusion.

"I've been studying about the Earth and the environment and I learned that animal agriculture is one of the things that cause an increase in greenhouse gases."

You're not sure exactly what to say and thankfully you don't have to. The waitress makes her way with your meals, placing them before the two of you.

The two of you eat in silence. Each time that you take a bite of your meal you can't help but feel your friend's eyes burning into you. It's one thing to speak about something you believe in, but it's another to try and change someone else's opinion.

Do you...
