Reach
You take your phone out, calling Ari and watch as they pick up the phone from the other side of the glass.
“Hello?”
“Would you mind looking up?” You say, not sure where you’re going with this.
Ari does, and within a second catches sight of you. They recognize the hurt on your face and Ari stands up, heading towards you.
Once they reach you outside, they are the first to speak, “You look—“
“Hurt? Maybe that’s because I am.” Theirs too much bitterness in your tone, but the overwhelming emotions takes its toll.
“What do you want me to say?” Ari spits back, “I’ve tried repeatedly only for you to constantly avoid me? So who's the one that should really be hurting?”
They’re right and you know it, but something hurdles the upcoming words that leave your mouth, “Maybe it’s because he’s always there, maybe it’s because I thought you found a new person to hang around that was better.”
“Are you kidding me? You really think that low of me? You could have said something to me, instead of not talking to me at all.”
That silences you, and without another words, you server around and bolt. Everything Ari said was right, and your mind is cluttered and on the brink of exploding. The consequence of keeping everything bottled in was finally taking its rightful affect.
‘It’s your fault,’ the voice repeated in your head.
