Chance for a Dance | Just a Kiss GxB Paranormal Romance
I'd never asked a guy to stay over at my house before and I didn't want to make things awkward, but I really didn't want to be alone.
"Hey..." Great, somehow I'd already managed to make the most casual word in the English language sound awkward. Or maybe that was just how I was standing, one hand on the towel wrapped around my hair, the other figeting with the sleeve of my oversized hoodie. What? Don't tell me comfy hoodies aren't the best clothes to wear when your secret crush who also happens to be your half-demon friend is potentially going to be staying over for the night. Or whatever.
I wasn't trying to look cute or anything. I mean, maybe a little. But it wasn't like he actually liked me.
Those times he'd kissed me--
Okay, I was definitely overthinking this.
By this time, Chance was giving me a go on look like he was getting impatient waiting for what I was going to say.
I shifted to my other leg, "Um, I was just thinking about if that guy is going to come back."
Chance let out a harsh breath and shook his head, looking away. "I'll make sure he doesn't."
He sounded angry. And for some reason, I kinda liked it.
"So, uh." Man, I was really smooth tonight. "I mean, you wanna... stay over?"
At that, his head snapped back my direction. "What?"
Okay, so I had said it pretty quietly. But did he really have to make me say it again?
I took a deep breath and repeated, "Stay over. You could hang out tonight, I mean. At least for a while."
There, that ought to soften it a little.
And maybe it worked, because he grinned in a totally not-awkward way. His smile made my stomach flip.
"What," he said, "Did you honestly think I was just going to leave you here alone after that?"
Well, yeah. I guess I did. After all, he could be so hot-and-cold sometimes, it was hard to be certain with him what he was really feeling.
