Keep your eye on it!
You get up from your soft. white, comfortable chair, wanting to escape the monotony of homework. You start to walk around your house, trying to do anything to escape your boredom. Then suddenly, you see a bright, strobing white light flashing in your window. You can see it through the thick, rainbow colored curtain hanging over the window. Excited by the sudden action, you rush to the window and throw aside the curtain. Outside, through the insanely bright flashing lights, you see a black silhouette suddenly appear, and then disappear just as quickly. You can barely see this, but what really scares you is the bright, yellow, glowing eyes. Each time the light flashes it either appears of disappears. Your excitement is totally replaced by fear and uncertainty. Nothing interesting ever happens where you live. All of the action happened in Los Santos, one of the biggest cities in California. There was none left for the small town only 10 miles away from the city. Then, the lights stopped flashing, but the figure remained. This all happened in the span of 10 seconds. You mind is racing and you are now riddled with fear. Suddenly your phone emits a loud ding. Startled out of your fear-induced trace, you worriedly pull out your phone. You calm down when you see that it is your dad. "Call me," the text reads. You turn away from the window, glad for the distraction, and quickly dial your dad's number. He picks up before the first ring finishes. "Honey, where are you?" He asks, his voice sounding shaky and uncertain.
"I'm at home. I've been here all day. What happened?" I query. The conversation with your dad has gone from reassuring to scary in a matter of seconds.
"Mom died," he announces. He is not angry or sad. He just sounds confused. Your emotions are jumbled. Immediately after you hear the news, you are confused just like your dad. But this quickly becomes sadness, which becomes anger just as quickly.
"How did she die?" You ask. Your voice is trembling with rage.
“Check the news,” he declares. Then he hangs up abruptly.
You are left with your sadness and rage. As you are moving to the TV, your phone suddenly dings again. Not even comprehending what is happening, too immersed in sadness and anger, you look at your phone. You are getting a call from an unknown number.
