Gold Rush Choose Your Own Adventure
You trudge on, carefully avoiding the diseased fort. You reach into your pocket and have a sip of water. Although your lips are cracking and your throat is dry, you must conserve water. There are only a few sips left. Your oxen are slowing down. Eventually one stops. It falls over, dead. You fill your empty water bottles with its blood and continue. Your wagon is greatly slowed down, but at least you have something to drink. You avoid drinking too much because you have heard that, in large quantities, blood can be toxic. It will give you your necessary iron supplement. After much thought, you decide to go through Walker Pass. As you approach, the mountains loom in front of you. Your slowed ox passes through. As your wagon crawls towards Golden Gulch you decide to abandon it. You can walk faster than the oxen are going. After three days traveling, you wake up to find that most of your money is gone! Thankfully, the robber didn’t check in your shirt pocket, where you hid some money in case this happened. For the rest of the week, you make your way to the mining camp. It is packed. You can only claim around 2 square feet of land! You might want to go upstream.
