Gold Rush Choose Your Own Adventure

You watch as the battered old ship sails towards the horizon. You look behind you at the jungle you came from. They are building a railroad to make the path easier. But you couldn’t have waited for that. For the next six weeks, you dodge snakes, buy things, and watch the ship. Eventually, you see the mast moving. Is it going over the horizon? As you watch, you realize it is sinking. You are relieved that you did not choose to go on. When the ship finally arrives, you excitedly climb on. The weather is horrible. A fer-de-lance snake that had snuck on board kills 6 of the crew before it is chucked off deck. The captain says it's a highly venomous pit viper. You eat fruit for the first few days to prevent scurvy. When you get to San Francisco you are very excited. You walk into a mining shop. The pickaxes are $50!
