Trace Evidence (Glass)

The results of the analyses were pretty cut-and-dry. The broken glass of similar color was fractured matched back together to form a reconstructed beer bottle. Additionally, Tyler's fingerprint was lifted from the neck of the bottle. The dried blood on the bottle piece found near Viktor's body was tested and positively associated with Viktor. Furthermore, the small glass fragments collected from the scene and from near Tyler's car were shown to have the same refractive index and elemental composition. Armed with this evidence, Officer Shiffert confronted Tyler once more. After all, if Tyler had left from the back entrance, he should not have collected any of these glass fragments from near Viktor's body. Tyler broke down, confessing that he was upset that Viktor had made fun of his favorite football team, the Atlanta Falcons. He just couldn't handle hearing any more "28-3" jokes, and in his drunken rage attacked Viktor, and ultimately did something that he regretted.

Watching Tyler break down really tugs at Officer Shiffert's heart. What should she do?
