Tunnels
You take the left tunnel, and a cold rush of air whips past you.
A low hum emanates all around. The sound waves are almost resonating within your body.
It could be the source of power keeping all the lamps on. Then again, it could be something completely different.
You keep on walking.
Down the corridor is a larger chamber, and a short set of concrete stairs going up to a platform. You take the stairs up and approach another metal door.
This time there isn't any keypad, and you turn the handle, the door squeaking as it opens.
Through the doorway is an even bigger chamber, twenty feet high and long. It's mostly empty except for pipes and electric equipment along the walls and ceiling, and a machine in the center of the room. The hum is coming from this machine.
You enter the room and close the door behind you, and you walk towards the machine to study it closer.
It's a big box with panels and consoles all along the outside of it, with a strange pipe connecting the backside and the top. A hatch juts out on the side facing you.
The consoles covering the box show data and other symbols you don't recognize, but from the look of it you can decipher that the box is generating some kind of energy.
A very powerful energy.
Wires are connected to the machine and slither on the floor until they join with the other wires on the wall. Several other electric boxes are in place every several feet, probably to make sure the flow of electricity doesn't go haywire.
Suddenly, there's a loud BANG! from the inside of the box.
There's something inside.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
There's a door on the other side of the chamber, possibly an exit. But what's inside the box?
