Stockholm Syndrome

Eventually, you mistake your abductors not killing them as a kindness. Then you are moved to a more comfortable part of the basement; a small, filthy, bug filled mattress on a filthy, crumbling, cement floor in a tiny basement bathroom with rusted pipes constantly dripping. This small ‘kindness’ indicates, in your mind, that the captor is not all bad. There is some good in them. Soon you start developing feelings for your captors and form an emotional bond with them. You start to see the situation from your captor’s point of view and even start sympathizing with them. You even start to support the cause your captor believed in that lead to your kidnapping. You now do anything to please your captors even without threats. When help comes, you fight it because you are emotionally bonded to them. You start to defend your captors and attempt to get away and follow your captors who have, at this point, run from the scene. You fight and scream, struggling against the authorities who are trying to help you. You are returned home and
