Hamlet

You run after the ghost, ignoring Horatio and the guards who are all yelling for you to stay back. You have to find out what's going on, if this really is your father's ghost. You never could tolerate ignorance very well.

Besides, what can a ghost do to you anyways? Your life is miserable as it is.

"I am your father's spirit," it says finally, "and if you ever loved me, Hamlet, avenge my foul and most unnatural murder!"

You froze. "Murder?"

"Yes, murder! They said I was bitten by a snake in my orchard, but know this: the snake that bit your father now wears the crown!"

"Claudius?" Somehow you aren't very surprised. One may smile and smile and be a villain...

The ghost spat. It looks so livid now that you took an involuntary step back. "That incestuous, adulterous beast - with witchcraft of his wit, with traitorous gifts - won to his shameful lust the will of my most seemingly virtuous queen! While I slept in the orchard, your uncle poured hebenon poison in my ear, curdling my blood swift as quicksilver. Thus was I, sleeping, by a brother’s hand, of life, of crown, of queen at once dispatched! Oh, you must avenge me, Hamlet! But don't hurt your mother. Leave her to the judgement of heaven. Fare thee well at once. Adieu, adieu, adieu. Remember me!"

With that, it vanished, leaving you to blink at the empty sky.

The ghost wants you to kill Claudius, but frankly you aren't sure what to do. For one, you still don't entirely trust spirits. You've been completely willing to listen to it, but now you're wondering if you're being tricked. But on the other hand, if all this is true...

You slowly pace in the night, trying to make up your mind.
