Blissful Oblivion

I let out a resigned sigh and followed him into the dark hole. The stone doors ground shut, and with a clunk, all of the light disappeared and dust rained down on my hair.
I felt a hand brush against mine, then grasp it. "Just follow me," he said.
We trudged downward through darkness for what felt like hours, until he stopped.
"Close your eyes. Please, just trust me."
Easier said than done, but whatever. I closed my eyes, and he led me forward a few steps, until violently yanking me down and forward. I fell facefirst into what felt like freezing water, and I thrashed and struggled for all I was worth. Was he really trying to drown me?
He continued to pull me forward, until we rose and surfaced. "What," I sputtered, "the fuck." I was treading water, and I looked at him in the dim light that seemed to have no source.
"I'm sorry, but I never would have gotten you to come in here if I told you you'd have to swim in freezing water. Would you?"
"No! Of course not! Are you out of your-"
"Hey," He interrupted, "Would you rather get eaten alive back there?"
I fell silent.
"Come on," He said, pulling me forward. "My home is just ahead. We can get freshened up and then I'll explain everything."
Hmph. What kind of guy lives in a cave with the only entrance through a water pool?
