In The Wake

"Wait!" He called, quickly running after you to the best of his ability. His heavy rain boots plodded against the earth as he caught up with you. Crying and scared, you tried to pull away from him but he gently pulled you back. You squirmed with all of your might in realization that you were never coming back to this place that you once called home.

"Hey! Look at me!"

You turned away, sobbing.

"Please....look at me, darling." He whispered.

You slowly turned your head.

"I know you're going to miss this place but I promise you that I will take care of you to the best of my ability. I'll-I'll buy you toys and we'll play games together and do anything you'd like. How does that sound?"

You slowly nod

"And if you want to come back and visit your friends, we'll come every weekend."

This causes you to smile softly.

He holds the umbrella over you as the rain begins to pour

"Shall we?'
