Troubled Waters

You instruct your fleet to use as little food and water as they possibly can in hopes of making your dwindling supplies last until you reach Newfoundland. Your sailors have resorted to attempting to fish, with little success. However, their attempts do in fact add a little bit of relief to the rations. While one of your ships is fishing, they see a strange bubbling happening at the surface of the water. A few sailors decide that it is a whale and you should hunt it for food.
