The Babysitter
Both boys threw their cards down.
Instantly, a bright flash erupted from the center of the game. They covered their eyes and braced themselves as the room was swept around by violent winds. The curtains and blinds shuddered as they were throw back and forth across the boy's room. Lost in the wind, the cards went everywhere.
And as suddenly as it began, the tiny storm ceased to exist.
Sam rubbed his eyes, and cautiously peaked around the room. It was a disaster: books were everywhere, cards were everywhere, the window had been thrust open and the glass was shattered. But more alarmingly, Jacob was nowhere to be found.
Before Sam could freak out, he heard a deep voice behind him. "Sam, you were right! I think my wish came true," Jacob said. Sam snapped his head around to see another teenager staring back at him.
The babysitter jumped back. "I've never... I..." Sam was at a loss for words.
"I wanted to grow up! To be a big kid like you!" Jacob giggled. It sounded strange for the little boy's naïvety to come out of the young adult's mouth. He was in the middle of a pubescent voice change as Sam could hear little cracks in the kid's voice.
"Uh... Wow..." Sam felt uncomfortable. The boy looked down at him. There was a definite power change. The babysitter became the smallest person in the room, and the weakest. It seemed like Jacob's wish also came with big muscles and a strong build.
Suddenly, Jacob sat down. "I don't feel so well," Jacob moaned.
Sam kneeled next to him and held his hand. "It's okay, Jacob. I'm gonna a doctor," Sam said reassuringly, feeling how strong Jacob's grip was. The boy's hand was warm and huge. Without warning, Sam realized he couldn't feel Jacob's fingers. His hand was too big to grip.
He looked down, and his eyes grew wider. Jacob was... growing. His shoulders expanded. His back became as long as his bed. His socks ripped, exposing his bare feet. "Owww," Jacob exclaimed as his head hit the ceiling. "What's happening to me?" he asked, his eyes welling up with tears.
"It's gonna be okay," Sam yelled up to him. The giant boy was taking up the entire bedroom now. And only getting bigger.
