The Story of A Chinese-American (ACWM)
Joining the missionary on his trip to China in 1864, you decide to work in the coastal city of Yangzhou. While experiencing occasional persecution from locals, who consider you a traitor for working with the missionary, you establish a fairly successful school teaching English. When the missionary returns to America in 1867, you stay behind, having found a wife among your converts equally eager to spread the Gospel. Riots in 1868 result in the burning down of your school, forcing you to begin anew, but they also bring a fresh influx of earnest missionaries who bolster your effort to evangelize. You continue your efforts to teach English until your death in 1910, renowned for your early support of Chinese English education.
