Shadowlands

You hear the sound of an approaching car as you cut the lights to your car and duck down. You hear the siren getting louder and louder. Your heart pounds in your ears- you really don't want to get arrested.

The sound of the siren starts to fade. It seems the vehicle didn't notice you, or didn't care. Either way, it was too close.
