Amethyst
Instinctively, your hand moves towards your neck and you feel the chain of the pendant still there. Apparently this boy is not a common-or-garden thief. Reassured, you begin to tell him what happened, still holding the amethyst protectively in one hand. "I don't know where I am now, but I come from Southern California." His face remains blank. "America?" you try tentatively. No sign of recognition. With a sigh, you realize you must be somewhere totally off the map. "Anyway, I was at my grandmother's house-- during summer vacation-- and I found this weird necklace in the attic." You proffer it for inspection. The otherworldly glow of light is gone, the stone dull and lustrous, but still it is a jewel of remarkable beauty. "I put it on-- and it started to shine. It was like it sucked all the light from the room-- it was brighter than a star!" Hyri's hazel eyes look confused, but he motions for you to go on. You take a deep breath. "And then I passed out, and when I woke up I was in your tent. That's all." You shrug.
Hyri doesn't reply right away, but he hands you a stick with roasted meat spitted on it. The scent is mouthwatering, and you suddenly realize just how hungry you are.
