Solipsism

"I suppose a compromise will work," said the other voice.

"Glad to hear it," I said. I wasn't able to control the people directly, of course, but I could plant dreams and suggestions into their heads. As I waited for nightfall, I placed a flashy meteor shower into the sky, so that my divine intent could not be mistaken. I picked from some of the most prominent from their society- the younger royal siblings, as well as several of the best farmers and mages.

As I'd hoped, they each went off to create new cities; some of them used considerable magic to create a new floating island on which to found their cities, while others chose to build their cities on the ground, next to the farmland. I had to admit, it was fun to watch my people as they founded new kingdoms, creating new cultures and...

"Is that a cult?" I asked the other voice. A group of mages clad in dark robes had summoned a floating rock, on which they had built an altar. "They're chanting. What are they doing? Did you tell them to do this?"

"I have no idea what you're talking about," said the other voice. I groaned; he was such a bad liar. Still, if he was telling the truth, killing these people would be cruel and unjust. I had no idea what spell they were casting, but surely...

There was a large crack, as a sinister vortex opened above the first city. "Huh. I guess they were casting an apocalypse spell," observed the other voice. "If only the magic in the world had been balanced in some way."

I tried my best to stop it, but it seemed as though I was too late, the moment I allowed the spell to be cast. Killing the rogue mages had no effect, and every time I tried to seal the vortex, it reopened itself in a new location. I shifted my attention to the people, but that was even worse. Dark clouds filled the sky, blocking the sun. Pillars of earth rose suddenly from the ground, smashing the floating cities and causing them to plummet slowly to the ground. Fires swept through the land, aided by fierce swirling winds, destroying crops and burning settlements to ash.

Just when I thought the spell was over, the vortex had one final trick. I had been watching the land so intently that I had neglected to observed the sky. The vortex had created a huge meteor, which hung menacingly in the air. I braced for impact, just in case there had been any survivors, but to my surprise the meteor rose skyward. It crashed into the sun, and... exploded? Shockwaves ripped through existence, revealing patches of the stark whiteness underneath.
