The Shadow Games
You warily walk over to the figure and accept the parchment from it. Uggh, the darkness surrounding this thing is almost choking in a way.
After taking a few steps back you unroll the paper and read the surprisingly, intricate writing on it:
Rio Lamei, you have been chosen to compete in the newest Shadow Games. This competition takes place only once and age and consists of only the strongest warriors in all the lands.
Enclosed are directions to Corsat, where the games will be held. If you survive the trek, you will be one of the priveleged few to participate in this grand event. Attendance is mandatory!
At the bottom of the "invitation" is scrawled a signature in some strange language you figure.
You note the map enclosed and stuff both the letter and the map in your pocket. The figure nods and makes one last statement before disappearing, "Remember, attendance is mandatory. Your progress will be monitored. Let us hope that you make it unscathed. It would be wonderous to have another Lamei in the competition."
You stand puzzled at it all. Then abruptly you remember your father. You rush to him and kneel beside his body.
His eyes are beginning to glaze over and his heart rate is decreasing. "Hang on father. Don't die. Perhaps I can do something!" Though you know as the words come out of your mouth it is hopeless.
You hold your father against your chest in a final embrace. He mumbles something in your ear.
