The Tale of Abigail
Abigail tries to jump off, but before she can, Lilith grabs her and stabs her in the chest with a knife.
"You're dead now, girl," Lilith hisses, and tosses her to the deck of the ship.
But Abigail doesn't die. Instead, she rises up with a new found fury. "Haven't you forgotten?" She screams, pointing at the hole in her chest. "I'm a zombie~ I'm ALREADY DEAD!"
And then Abigail realizes something important: she can't die again. She has nothing to lose, which means...she shifts her focus onto the crate labeled 'explosives' and smiles slightly. "Bye bye, Lilith," she says, waving, before kicking the box of explosives over and into the fire pit.
"Wait!" Lilith screams, her eyes wide in fear. "Don't-"
The explosion is brilliant. Body pieces fly everywhere, and the ships is torn into splinters. Abigail herself is blown into pieces, though her body reassembles itself quickly enough. For days, she drifts on the ocean water, thinking of Valerie's death and the expression on Lilith's face before she was incinerated.
On the fourth day, she washes up on a beach. Abigail gets up and checks out her surroundings. As she thought, she's right at Maraj City. "Mother," she thinks to herself. "I'm coming to find you."
And so she walks. She walks for a very long time, to the hotel where her mother told her she was staying. People on the streets stare at her, the seaweed in her hair, and her bloodshot eyes. Abigail is thankful that she thought to cover her chest hole. Finally, after a day of walking and bleeding- or, at least that's what she thought it was (she wasn't sure what the purple fluid was)- she finally reaches the hotel.
She climbs up the side, using her insanely long nails to hook herself onto the walls. Though Valerie made no mention of it, it seems that being a zombie does have its supernatural perks. Not only could she cut herself into pieces and come out relatively unscathed, she also had incredible strength and speed. She didn't have to eat, too, which was a plus.
Abigail plans on directly climbing into her mother's room, because she knows the hotel staff would never let her in if she entered from the lobby. She finds the room that her mother is staying in (Room 312), and crashes herself through the window. The sight that meets her makes her retch.
Her mother's body lies on the blood, carved and bloodied. Her eyeballs are crushed, and her limbs have all been butchered off. The only part of her that remains intact in her heart, which has been forced into her mouth. It has stopped beating for hours.
"How?" Whispers Abigail, at lost for words, too shocked to even grieve. "How did this happen?"
And then she sees the words 'Lilith' carved onto her mother's stomach. Somehow, her aunt is still alive.
