Worlds Apart
"These are personal issues - and nothing you need to concern yourself with," the woman states.
You open your mouth to speak, but the Guardian does before you can say a word. "She does not like the Guardians here." He hesitates, glancing at the woman and then at you. "We can talk about it later."
(Remember the code Ah).
The woman smiles, but it doesn't seem to quite fit on her face. "You may not have realised who I am, but I'm the original Dash - the one who you and your sisters have come from."
It makes sense, but you're still not sure why she's here... and why she's speaking to you. You don't say anything, though, instead waiting for her to continue.
"Are you aware of the disease which is sweeping through your sisters?" the original asks.
Remembering several occasions where you've seen some of your sisters coughing up blood, you nod slowly.
Dash sighs. "There's a virus that has been sweeping through all of you. So far, not one of the scientists has been able to discover a cure." She pauses briefly, before continuing, "It may be possible to find a cure elsewhere on another planet, but none of the scientists can leave here. Their oaths will not allow them to."
"Stop dancing around the issue and tell her what you require of her," the Guardian says, a little harshly.
Dash glances at him with narrowed eyes and then turns to you. "Of all the clones here, you are the only one who has shown any ability to think for herself. You are the only one who would be able to leave here and search for a cure." She studies you. "Will you accept?"
The thought of leaving this place - your home for so many years - chills you a little. Even though you were thinking that you did want to leave, the thought of having to is a hard one to face.
