A shadow passes across the librarian's face and you know instinctively that he doesn't believe you. Apparently, you're not very good at lying - and you brace yourself for the anger you're sure is coming.
To your surprise, however, the librarian doesn't seem angry about it - he looks more thoughtful than anything else. "I just need to speak to someone a moment. If you want, you can stay here and study." Without waiting for a reply, he walks out of the library.
