Beautiful Melody
While I was looking at them waiting for an explanation as to why they were knocking on my door, their eyes grew wide. At first I was confused, why would they go from sad to scared, but then it registered how quiet the house suddenly was. Dad wasn't yelling any more. The silence was soon filled by foot steps coming up the stairs.
I immediately stepped aside, letting my sisters take refuge in my bedroom. Heaven forbid they be caught in dad's path after a blow up. Once they were safely inside I quietly closed the door and locked it.
I pressed my ear to the door, trying to figure out where and what my father was doing, however his foots steps never made it to the end of the hallway where my bedroom is located. Turning around I found my sisters happily laying on my bed flipping through some of my many magazines.
"Sounds like dad went to the study, you can make a break for your room whenever" I resumed my spot next to the window overlooking the street. "Actually, we were wondering if you would take us to the park." Nancy stated in a quiet voice "Incase you haven't noticed, its pouring outside." I laughed glancing back at them. "We don't have to go to the park, we could go to the mall or something" Cassie chimed in with a bit more force then Nancy. "Do you really want to walk in the pouring rain just to go to the mall where we have no money to spend?" of course I knew the real reason they asked, they were dying to get out of the house, and truthfully so was I.
