Through the Eyes of Sam
As I ordered another beer, I began to take notice of the couple as they ate. First, I saw that the lady wasn't exactly comfortable around the man. I could tell by the way she eyed him nervously, watching his every move the kind of way a mouse does near a sleeping fox. Second, as soon as I heard Gregory talk, I knew he wasn't from here. "Oh, my God Lucy!" he screamed. "Will you eat your burger already? We have to get out of here!"
"Shut up, Greg, I'm eating as fast as I can!" she barked in reply.
"Don't you backtalk me!" Gregory yelled, fury rising in his voice.
Lucy murmured something in reply that I couldn't quite catch, but it seemed to anger Greg. Before I could understand what was going on, he had Lucy by the throat and was bashing her skull against a nearby wall. Infuriated, I watched as Danny grabbed Greg by his shirt and pulled her off of the battered woman. It was at that moment, I don't know why, but I had this idea.
