I'll wait. Better not to strain myself.

Sitting and waiting. Boring. Wish I had a magazine or crossword puzzle....

What the....

Everything's shaking. I hear breaking glass. It's an earthquake! This can't be happening....my luck can't be this bad...please stop....

Phew. It wasn't that bad a quake. Only ten seconds or so. Enough to maybe break some windows. I should run home and make sure everything's fine!

Back home. I've lost a coffee mug, but nothing else, thankfully. And it wasn't even a mug I like. Maybe I kept it on a hook over the sink in the hope it would fall and break.

You know what's weird? This particular mug -- which is puke-green and has little bumblebees on it -- was given to me by my late grandmother some years ago. HER grandmother was Bathsheba, the subject of the freaky photo that started everything off this morning.

I know, I know, it's not even a particularly interesting coincidence. But that just proves that I'm right and Shirley is wrong! There's no such thing as fate! You can make your own fate if you want to!

Think I'll stay inside today, in case of aftershocks. I now have a rock-solid excuse for not coming in to work. Some cups of soothing tea and I'll be fine. I hate earthquakes.

The phone just rang. I don't much feel like answering it. Should I?
