Sigma Epsilon Chi

There was absolutely no possible way that every teenager in the castle was one of Piorre's bastard children, but it was far easier to bribe all of them than it was to try and investigate which of them had questionable parentage. Even then, there was a big difference between being a bastard child, and being Piorre's bastard child.

"And it's not like I'm paying for it," he said aloud. "If those dragons want a rush job, they're going to have to pay dearly for it." Nerek had bribed all thirty-some of the castle's children, as well as several of the other pilgrims staying in the castle with him. As for Lione, he had wound up paying her twice more; the girl was seriously high maintenance, and kept demanding to be reimbursed for her help.

But as confident as he was toward the happiness of most of the castle, there still remained the issue of the prince. The more Nerek found out about jim, the more he was certain of his hidden draconic heritage. For one thing, he hated to be called Geoff the fourth. Insisting that he have his own identity, the boy demanded that everyone call him Quartus. Who else would change their name to something foreign and dumb sounding than a dragon?

Nerek wasn't allowed to have free reign over the castle, and the prince never left his room. Anyone who would have known whether or not Quartus was happy did not bother mingling with the pilgrims, and Nerek wasn't allowed to enter the parts of the castle where he could talk to them.

He only had one more day before the CFR visit, so it was time to get risky. Depending on who caught him lurking around the castle, the result could range anywhere from a stern lecture to banishment to permanent imprisonment. It didn't really matter either way- the dragons were going to teleport him to safety no matter what situation he got himself into.
