Sigma Epsilon Chi

Nerek had a far easier time pulling Geoff aside for a private conversation. He couldn't decide if this meant Geoff was a sociable person, or if Geoff was giving him special treatment on the offchance that his bargain with Piorre would be ruined.

"How are you, my boy?" he said, slapping Nerek on the back with an exaggerated sense of solidarity. "Did everything go well? I have to admit, I'm a bit curious why you're still here. It didnt' take that long to bribe them, did it?"

"No, it didn't," said Nerek, fishing for an excuse. "I, uhh... well, they wanted me to stay away from the house until the visit. I'm part of a... community service project. Yeah. I won't return until they call for me."

"I wondered about that rune on your neck," he replied. "Well, I suppose they'll call you back any moment now. What did you want me for?"

"Well, I've been giving gifts to some of your higher court officials, but I haven't been able to pull your son aside to present his gift."

Geoff laughed. "That doesn't surprise me in the slightest. Why don't you give it to me; I'll make sure he gets it."

"That would be my hope," replied Nerek, pulling the small potion bottle out from his pouch.

"That's a..." Geoff's eyes flashed briefly with greed before he checked himself. "Well, let's just say I know how they work, eh? I promise you Geoff will get the potion."

"I'm sure that's true," Nerek muttered under his breath. "But which Geoff?"

Nerek could feel the teleport rune begin to pulse. There was nothing else to be done.
