Project Theta 27

You decide to go into the room on the right of the hallway. Inside, you cannot see because of the darkness. You grope along the wall in an attempt to find a light switch, only to bump your hand into something. It falls and hits the floor with a thud. Kneeling down to grab it, you realize that it's a candle. It seems to have been used before, since it is deformed on one side. Your eyes start to get adjusted to the darkness, and as you get up, you find yourself in an octagonal room with hundreds of candles on each wall. In the middle of the floor is a strange symbol that looks to be a five-pointed star with a red X going down the middle. You think to yourself about this being some kind of religious room, where you worship idols or something, and are suddenly startled when a candle across the room lights up. You are creeped out, thinking about how it lit up, and suddenly another candle lights up. And another, and another, until all the candles where lit up, giving the room an eerie appearance and sending long shadows across the room. You hear footsteps outside the door. A man walks in, carrying a strange, bloody creature in his arms. He has a strange, dead look in his eyes. He either didn't notice you there, or just ignored you and walks right past you. He stands at the center of the room, and lays the strange creature on the middle of the circle. He turns toward you, and takes out a long, rusty knife. You are about to run when he suddenly plunges the knife into his arm, and slits it open. Blood pours from his arm, falling on the apparently dead creature. He then throws the knife to the side, and kneels within the boundaries of the symbol. He starts to mumble strange phrases, words that you don't understand, and then stops. The symbol starts to glow. Growing brighter, it envelops the man and the creature, and a cold, chilling breeze that penetrates to your very soul hits you. The candles get blown out, and suddenly the light is gone.
