Fan Fic: Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego?

A beautiful, sad, sound fills your ears. You're not the only one whose eyes are getting moist. Others in the crowd begin to dab at their eyes, while tears start to roll down old ladies' faces. The horse-head fiddle, so named because the top of it is always carved into the shape of a horse's head, sounds like a violin, but more vibrant.

The origins of the horse-head fiddle are passed down from generation to generation through a famous legend. Once upon a time, a poor Mongolian boy and his prized horse took first place in a village horse race. An evil lord coveted the horse, but the boy and his beloved horse were inseparable. In a fit of jealousy, the lord had the horse killed. The horse's spirit came to the boy in a dream one night and instructed him to make an instrument, using parts of the horse's body, that would sound like the horse when played, so that their souls could still speak to each other and neither would be lonely. The boy located his horse's corpse the next day and built an instrument with it using the horse's instructions- its frame from his horse's bones, its exterior covering using the horse's hide, its strings using hair from the horse's tail, and its top carved into the shape of his horse's head. It is said that the boy wandered the land, playing songs in remembrance of his beloved horse.

After composing yourself, you sit down with the musician.

"Sources tell me Carmen asked for a map of this country's capital city of Cardiff," says the musician.

You tell him you are thankful for his information.
