Cold, Dark, and the Color of Red
"Yes?" answered a tall man at the door.
"Good evening" said Tony "I am from the local branch of Fireman's appreciation, and I was wondering..." he trailed off as he heard a loud crash from behind the man.
"Is everything alright?" Tony asked.
"Ahh, look Sir, im not that interested in anything at the moment" Just as the words left his mouth a Young Woman stood up behind him, smiled and replied.
"Shimmer?"
As the words left her mouth something grazed by Tony's ear. A gunshot he knew instinctively. And it was too late, the woman in front of him was dead, the man had ducked for cover, and Tony spun around to see if he could tell where the shot had come from.
As he had expected there was a shadow moving in the darkened room. "I knew I should have checked that first" he thought.
