Cold, Dark, and the Color of Red

Tony looks over towards the Police.

"Petty no doubt" he added, and he looked a little closer. Thats odd he thought.

The police were doing nothing. There was a lot of commotion, but for Tony's seasoned eyes, he could tell, there was nothing happening. Nothing going on. 3 Police, and 3 runners, being read their rights, but not being put into the cruisers. They looked like they were being scolded by a 4th grade teacher, not being stopped by the police.
He also couldn't help but notice that every one of them, Police and runner, periodically looked in his direction. While It could have been coincidence, it seemed out of place.

Alright, what is this groaned Tony as he stood up and started walking towards the situation.

As He got half way down the street he heard a loud scream and a crash, a woman was crushed between a truck and the building next to him.

What is going on? He thought as he noticed that the house the lady came from was the one with the "shimmer" on it.

The Shimmer was a calling card, a small metallic square, which Tony, and only Tony responded to, he never knew what, who or why, and he never cared. It was a call for his attention.

If this was what they wanted his attention for they got it...
