"There are people who speak English right here in this town..." she replies. "You could go down to the café - the owner's really friendly - I believe his name is Fred Phelps...but beware, he is really gay, so don't do any gay bashing...I'm fairly sure he's armed..."
How weird? In your home dimension, Fred Phelps is the most homophobic pastor in the world, and here, he's the gayest coffee house owner in town.
"Or, if you like, you can probably catch a train to New Amsterdam or New Rotterdam from the train station. There's a lot of English speakers in both cities."
"New Amsterdam...is that like New York or something?"
"What's New York?" she says.
"Never mind", you reply.
"Or, if you want, you can come with me to Washington. But we have to leave right away."
