The demon scam
You shake your head. Those cookies are the only food you have and who knows how long they'll have to last. "No Merle, we have to save them."
Merle scowls at you. "You're a meanie! I'll go home and leave you here!"
You roll your eyes. "As if you can go back on your own."
"I can too!" Merle claims and stalks up to one of the rock formations and touches it. Instantly, it starts to shimmer with the same glow you saw back in the forest. She puts her hand through it and turns to you. "See?"
You gape, totally stunned. "What the..!? YOU openened up the portal here by yourself?"
Merle sticks out her tongue to you and steps through the portal.
"No, wait!" You leap after her, but the portal is closed and you smack into it. Confused, angry, scared and hurting, you just stare at the rock she disappeared through. What kind of power has she, really!?
Don't worry... she'll be back for you when she's calmed down. Hopefully...
