Hellstone

Gabe looked at his transcript, then at the councillor's recommendations. Fuck. He looked back at his transcript, and then at required classes list. Fuck, fuck, fuck.

Well, it couldn't be helped. Try as he might, a career in the Fine Arts just wasn't for him. There was no way in hell he'd ever be able to pull together a portfolio, let alone keep it updated and circulated among possible employers. The problem was, this meant switching majors. Not only would he have to admit to his parent that they were right, he'd have to start over. None of his fine arts credits would do him a damn bit of good, except for three hours of it, which he could use for his free elective requirement. Not only were the rest of his two year's worth of hours useless, he'd be losing all of his scholarships, too. Fuck!

Well, there was no help for it. He'd get a few loans, save money here and there...oh, who was he kidding? He was at his parent's mercy for anything the government wouldn't pick up. And there was no way in hell they'd let him keep his own apartment. He'd get stuck in student housing with the rest of the drunkards and dumbasses. Fuckity-fuck-fuck fuckers.

Grabbing his keys off the shelf, Gabe locked the door behind him and started down the stairs. The complex was right off main street, which made noise a bitch but had the nice trade-off of having everthing within walking distance. Between that and city busing, he didn't have to mess with a car. His feet did the walking for him, leaving Gabe to focus on his thoughts. Fast food was a comfort to him, and considering how shitty it all was, it was no wonder he was rapidly running out of shirts that would fit. Fuck on a stick. And he'd promised himself he'd limit himself to just three meals this week. Like that ever happened. Fuck. The Freshman Fifteen had never been a problem for him- he walked everywhere, and it was a pretty spread-out campus. It was the summer that always bit him in the ass. Too much moping and not enough movement. Fuck it- the belly was there to stay.

Fuck, he was saying 'fuck' a lot. Sorta ruined the word's impact. Well, whatever. If there was ever a time to care, now was certainly not it. Burger time was much more important. Except...shouldn't he have been there by now?

Gabe stopped, and looked around. He wasn't quite sure how he'd pulled it off, but he had walked past the restaurant toward the shopping center. And that empty section of store had been bought out, finally. God only knows why- the town was growing on the edges, and most new businesses that tried to start up in here failed miserably. Gabe looked at the store's name: "Magi-Mart" Oh, yeah. That inspired confidence. What the hell was this- new age bullshit meets college convenience?

"Well, why not?" he said aloud. "I sure as hell don't have anything better to do. Maybe mocking some of this b.s. will make me feel better."
