Hall of Infinite Doors

A fire flickers into existence in front of you. Behind it you see an elderly American Indian man. There is a patch of barren dirt around the fire.

"Sit," he tells you, motioning across the flames, "hear the tale."

You sit down, the earth feels warm beneath you and the music softens.

"Many, many years ago there was a man named Thomas Hobson who owned a stable. In order to make a living Hobson rented out horses, but he gave his clients an interesting option." The man falls silent. He is silent for a very long time. You begin to feel sleepy. Finally you speak.

"What option did he give them?"

"They could take the horse closest to the door or none at all," he replies with a smile, "that is Hobson's choice."

"But that isn't a choice at all," you object, "at least not a fair one."

"None the less that is the choice he gave. To complete your dream quest you must find the Hobson's choice." The volume of the music rises again and he nods to you. "Good luck."

The last thing you see is his hand waving above the fire, then he and the flames are gone. Once again you are in a black void.
