(Aku no Tsurugi) 悪の剣

Aku no Tsurugi

Some of this story will be written in Japanese. Please set your browsers to display Japanese characters. They will not be an integral part of the story, though at later times they may act in puzzles, and it could become fun to try to translate what the main character is saying. I meant to use them just to add to the atmosphere. From now on all romaji will be written in parenthesis (like this) and all translation will be written in carrots <like this>

Aku no Tsurugi is meant to be played as an Role Playing Choose your own adventure. I figured this would add to the fun factor. The rules will be simple and fun so as to not take away from the experience.

In this game you as the reader will hear the story described to you by the main character first person. You will take the part of the ghost who guides him. Your choices will be in the form of ways to communicate with, or help the main character. You will then be able to listen to what he says and thinks as you have possessed him. The two of you will work together in this story.

Characters and their statistics

The main character begins the game with the following abilities and attributes.

Hit points (This is the amount of life the character has) – 20 maximum
Spiritual Points (This are spent using spirit attacks) – 1 maximum
Attack (This is used in combat) – 5
Defense (also used in combat) – 5

Styles of Fighting – Street Fighting 4/6
Special Attacks – none

The ghost of the girl has the following attributes

Hit Points – 0, none, she is dead
Spiritual Points – 20 maximum
Attack – N/A (She cannot physically touch living things)
Defense – N/A (She cannot be physically touched by living things)

Styles of fighting – N/A
Special Attacks –
Hiken – SP1, Attack 6, one combat round. Generates a burning flame that engulfs the right hand of the main character for a single attack round. This is a FIRE based attack.
Hifutsu – SP5, Damage 10, used in place of combat round. The main character holds his right arm in the air, flames will then spiral outward around him dealing FIRE based damage to all those in the area.

If the main characters hit points reach 0, the game has ended.

Spiritual points are only consumed when using spirit attacks or, when given the option to consume them to affect the story in some way; these will be presented in the choices.

COMBAT

The combat system works as follows. To determine your attack rating you use your ATTACK value – enemies DEFENSE value. This will give you your combat attack ratio. Your enemies ATTACK value – your DEFENSE value will give you your combat defense ratio.

Example: For instance you (Attack 5, Defense 5) engage a hoodlum (Attack 3, Defense 2). Your combat attack ratio will be 3, (5-2) your combat defense ratio will be -2 (3-5).

Your attack is a positive number, this indicates that you are stronger than your opponent and therefore will be able to them damage in this fight effectively, the higher the number, the more potential damage can be dealt. Your defense is a negative number; this is also very good for you, the lower the number the less damage the enemy can potentially deal you in this fight. Now your current fighting style will affect how you deal damage in this fight.

In the beginning the main character uses street fighting techniques which are scored 4(attack)/6(defense). This means that you roll a 4-sided dice for Attack, but a 6-sided dice for Defense, add the score to your combat ratios and it will tell you how much damage you dealt your opponent and how much damage you were able to deal to your opponent.

Add your dice rolls to the previous ratios. This will determine how much damage you receive and take. Your attack roll + attack ratio = the amount of damage you deal to your enemy. Your defense roll + defense ratio = amount of damage you take from the enemy.

Example: You roll for your attack, you roll a 2. Your Damage dealt is now 5 (2+3). You roll for your defense, you roll a 4, you are dealt 2 damage (4+(-2) which is 4-2). You will then subtract 2 from your total HP and 5 from your opponents total HP. The fight will continue until one person reaches 0 HP.

Having a high offense dice rating and a low defense dice rating is desirable.

You will learn a wider range of martial arts at later times in the game.

Spirit attacks are an important part of this game; they act in the place of one of your attributes in battle, or deal a specific amount of damage. An SP skill labeled as Attack6 means that your attack will instead be 6 for the abilities duration in stead of your normal attack. An SP skill labeled as Defense7 means your defense rating will instead be 7 during the amount of time the ability lasts. Other abilities will explain what they do or how they work. The SP# of SP ability indicates the amount of SP that is consumed to perform that SP attack, if the person using the ability doesn't have enough SP, then you cannot use the skill.

ITEMS

The main character is able to carry 8 items with him at a time. It does not matter whether this are items he is carrying or wearing.

Items- these are either needed to further the story, or have specific uses such as healing, or dealing damage etc.

Weapons – these affect your combat ratings. They will add a certain number to your attack and defense depending on their strengths and weaknesses. You can only have the benefits of one weapon at a time.

Defense Items – Some items, such as a bullet proof vest will add to your defense rating. Their abilities will be described in detail when you receive one. You can receive the benefits of more than one defense item at a time; however you cannot use more than one defense item on each part of your body. How much each item covers will be described when you receive them.

SPECIAL SKILLS

As the game progresses you will unlock special skills for the main character. These will range from new types of fighting styles to interesting benefits like being able to wield two weapons at the same time, or heal yourself more effectively. When you receive these skills they will be described in much deeper detail.

LEVELING UP

At the end of each night you will be given the opportunity to increase your statistics, keep track of the amount of experience points given to you throughout the game. You will receive some for defeating enemies and some for performing certain actions. You may then increase your statistics at the following cost.
