Modern Relm

Timmy Seven walked out of the public school, named after some long dead goverment official, into the warm spring sun. School had posed an interesting problem for him. His father always told him to attempt to blend in and to try to not call excessive attention to himself. Timmy's tall thin frame and vibrant red hair made that a more than impossible task. It wasn't all bad he had one good friend, Bobby Johnson.

Bobby came jumping down the three large stone steps. Unlike Timmy he had a very unassuming form. Average height, average build, and even normal colored hair. Bobby would have looked like everybody else if it wasn't for the fact that he was the only black student in a predominatly white school.

"What are you doing ass-clown." Bobby asked. He always had an extensive vocabulary when it came to foul words courtesy of cable television.

"Nothing, I was just thinking." Timmy replied in a sort of distant tone

"Well not knock that shit off man. You coming over tonight to watch the mid-night monster movie marathon." Bobby curled his hands in front of himself into a scary pose resembling a zombie while he spoke.

"Sorry, I can't I told my dad I'd help him in the store this afternoon" Timmy said in an apologetic manner. " But if he says it's o.k. then I'll come over later tonight, cool?"

"Cool man, just call me later." Bobby said as they did a special handshake known only to the two boys. They went thier seperate ways heading to the streets that led to thier respective homes.

The shop Timmy's dad owned was a curious place. A large green and maroon billboard announced the business' name as "7th Relm" It was a magic store, but not a store for magicians. They didn't have things like playing cards and trick hats. No, this place was filled with shrunken heads, magic crystals of all shapes and sizes, and various random herbs and powders.

The door was left open as the red-hair teen walked inside. The place was torn asunder. All of the shelves had been knocked over, thier contents scattered on floor, and many cases were broken.

"Hello?" he called out while making his way through cautiously. "Dad?"

A rustling sound came from the stock room, followed by a quick opening and closing of the back door. He wasn't sure if he should continue the search for his father or if he should go and see who had made the noise.
