Deleterious

According to standard procedure, each student must pick a topic and defend said topic. There are a list of cards containing propositions, and they must find a partner against whom to debate. Today we will do 6 rounds, one round per topic, and there are a total of 12 topics, meaning that we will conclude those in the following week on the same day.
If you do not have a topic ready, you can come up and pick a topic. Those who are not called will not be able to choose a topic for today but will choose a topic the next week on the same day. There are twelve students - 6 of them will be asked to come up and pick a topic, and the other 6 will get to choose which of the topics they wish to argue against. If you are called to pick a card, you must say what is on the card out loud. then you are to stand by the left wall until one of these students walks up to challenge you on said topic. You cannot rescind the topic you have chosen. Whatever you pick of what is available is going to be what you will be defending today - since you have already made that commitment. The last student to choose will only be left with one option.

"Tanner, you will be the first to choose." The debate coach calls you by name. "Now, hurry up and don't keep the others waiting."
