Blue Dream

You awaken to the sound of rushing rapids which sound as though they're surrounding you. The ice cold air stings your lungs as you take a deep breath. You can feel your body rocking, and as you slowly open your eyes, you realize that you are lying face up in a wooden canoe, quickly being pushed down the middle of a half-frozen river. You are surrounded on all sides by the snow-covered trees of the forest in northern Canada
You sit up, and realize how dangerous your predicament is. The boat seems to be gaining speed at a rapid pace. You can see that there are many obstacles within the water, and your boat seems to have accumulated some water within itself. You search the boat for something- anything which might help you survive this nightmarish scenario. While searching you find:
-A set of seemingly handcrafted oars made of solid wood.
-A hiking backpack containing a sleeping bag, a change of clothes, a box of matches, a Swiss Army Knife, and even a very small camping pot.
You look up from searching the heavy backpack and realize the boat has taken on more water than it has last you looked. You can’t find a leak in the boat but soon realize that the top of the canoe is only slightly higher that the level of the water. Every now and then, when the water gets rough, the boat rocks and lets in a little more of the freezing cold water. You realize the boat is too heavy. If you’re going to keep this boat from drowning, you need to throw the heavy pack overboard. You then consider that you may have a better chance of surviving if you were to take the pack and try to exit the boat and survive on land. Although your memory is hazy, you believe you can reach your hometown by following the river downstream and south. What would you like to do?
