The Haunted School
There are eleven of them in the lobby of the school that night. Their parents had dropped them off at 8 in the evening. Everyone had been punctual; they had to be - they had been warned that no one would be admitted after 8. The kids are a fairly homogeneous group. Five are boys and five are girls. They are all in the seventh grade. They are all relatively happy and healthy. Their lives are about to change, and not for the better.
You are one of the ten. Your parents bought this overnight experience for you at the annual auction. They thought it would be fun to spend a Friday night camping out at the school. Everyone said it was. Previous classes had told you that it was the best day of the whole year. You have your doubts.
The school is old, built on the foundation of an old house that had been constructed around the time that the town had been established in the 1840s. The building had been expanded several times since then, but the old parts of the school had, well, a reputation. Odd things were said to happen at night. Common objects sometimes disappeared over night and reappeared in different sections of the school. People working late heard footsteps, but when they checked, no one was there to have made them. You do not believe in ghosts and you are not afraid of things that go bump in the night, but the old wing of the school where you would be staying tonight still makes you slightly uneasy.
