The Choice of Ages

Your walking down the street and you stop at a newspaper stand to see what's happening in the world. A man steps up next to you and dose the same. The report said there was a massive accident in the Lincoln tunnel 20 dead over 50 injured.

The man looks at you and says "What a tragedy huh?. Twenty people merely coming to work today, or going to school, just living their lives. Now they are dead. Perhaps some of them spent their entire life trying to attain academic perfection, perhaps tomorrow they we're to graduate, but now they are dead. What was the point, what was the point to them focusing their whole life on the pursuit of knowledge, now that they are dead. You know it's one of the only things that we know for one hundred percent surety, is that one day all of us will Die. SO I must ask you what is the point of us trying to succeed in this world, trying to bend it to our will, when in the end we will be leaving it. One might say that we struggle so that it will be better for those who follow, but the bottom line is they too will die. So again I ask what is the point. We struggle daily to get ahead only to be brought down low buy a drunk driver on an early morning joy ride. My statements may sound morbid, and paint a world that is without hope or meaning, but I say them only to show that there is a meaning, a purpose to life. The purpose is that we are not meant for this world, if we had been meant for it, we would not leave it, we will leave this world and enter into another one, one which will last forever. Have no delusions sir you will Die, and no matter how smart or enlightened you are, you will be brought low. Now you may say that there is no afterlife, but I say that cannot possibly be, because it totally defeats the purpose of us being here, we may as well push the button and wipe ourselves off the face of this planet because we are not staying anyway."

He pauses and takes a deep breath. "So if the things of this world are not the fulfillment of our existence, and there is no possibility of oblivion, then we must conclude that it is the next life that is the most important.
Are you ready to face what comes after death, do you even have a clue as to what it might be. There is hope in the life to come, peace and joy, but only if you truly want these things. If you do then let me continue, if not then I will trouble you no more.
