The Horror of Madison Falls

Sunlight was vanishing. Almost set. Hints of gold and lavender clouds could be seen in the horizon. Orange and blue started to take over the sky. But somehow, light still could be seen through the blinds and casting a faint glow onto the floor of Vanessa's apartment.

Her key slides into the keyhole and she opens the door. A slight chill runs down her spine. Her intuition is talking to her. Warning her about something...

She walks in, throwing her black napsack onto a broken wicker chair against the wall, and walks further into her dim apartment. She flicks on the lamp next to her computer. Its dim glow resembles the rays coming in through the window.

She moves the mouse on her computer and suddenly a message pops up. The chill runs down her spine once more, but with a harder slice than the first time. Then she thought,
"Why is this scaring me? Why am I so tense? is it stress? Ive always had a good sense of when bad things happen... but Ive taken alot of stories and not once been in a bad situation..." she clicked on the mouse almost with no relunctance and an image appear on the screen.

It was a woman... she looked lifeless... scratches and bruises all over her face... and she was lying on her back on the concrete, The photo was morbid compared to what she was used to. But there was something strange... her eyes... they look... almost... like their still living... while she herself is dead. Then a text message popped up. It read:
Vanissa,
Im assigning you to this strange case out in the remote town of Madison Falls. 6 murders. The names will be handed to you by the mayor, Mr. Raymond Wilson. I know this is not what your used to doing, and its your first far field assignment, but think of it as an oppertunity for higher wages. Dont bother coming into the office tommorrow. Pack up for a month, keep a notebook and recorder and be on your way immediatly. Your train ticket has been purchased online and waiting for you to recieve it at Necro Capital Train Station.
-Dave

"Hm..." she said to herself, "Murders... Ive always been afraid of things dead. But perhaps I can dance around actually seeing them. Madison Falls, eh? Never heard of the place. Hence the 'remote' part huh? I guess I better start packing."

Vanessa, walked away from her computer and walked into her bedroom. She kneeled besides her bed and reached undernieth, pulling out a large black briefcase. She threw it on the bed and made her way to her dresser.

As soon as she was packed, she ran off the list of items:
"Lets see. Ive packed everything. Notebook, plenty of pens, clothes for a month's stay, pepper spray and my mini-messenger (for those who dont know what a mini-messenger is, it happens to be something popular with the reporters here in Capital City. A small device used to send and recieve messeges. Cheaper than a cell phone). I think I'll leave for the station in the morning... or perhaps I should leave now?"
